Assistant Controller
You will help develop and maintain an effective financial and accounting function while the business scales in Niger. You will represent Finance to external stakeholders, oversee financial transactions and compliance, maintain accounting controls, manage the external audit relationship, and lead, mentor, and develop finance staff. You will also work with Product Managers to ensure products are designed correctly from accounting and tax perspectives.
Responsibilities
- Represent the Finance unit to external stakeholders
- Review and monitor company financial transactions
- Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Manage the external auditor relationship and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop finance staff
- Collaborate with Product Managers on accounting and tax design for new products
- Lead the Finance team
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in auditing, accounting, or corporate finance
- Experience with financial reporting requirements and regulatory frameworks in Niger
- Experience managing and resolving statutory tax audits
- Full professional fluency in French and English
- Time management, critical thinking, and analytical problem-solving skills
- Interpersonal communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff
- Executive-level written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Work authorisation in Niamey
