Assistant Controller

Lead and develop Wave’s financial and accounting function in Niger while overseeing transactions, compliance, accounting controls, external audits, tax considerations, and finance staff.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Finance unit to external stakeholders
• Review and monitor company financial transactions
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
• Manage the external auditor relationship and ensure compliance with accounting standards
• Recruit, train, mentor, and develop finance staff
• Collaborate with Product Managers on accounting and tax design for new products
• Lead the Finance team

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in auditing, accounting, or corporate finance
• Experience with financial reporting requirements and regulatory frameworks in Niger
• Experience managing and resolving statutory tax audits
• Full professional fluency in French and English
• Time management, critical thinking, and analytical problem-solving skills
• Interpersonal communication and leadership skills
• Ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff
• Executive-level written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Work authorisation in Niamey
