ASSISTANT DESIGN MANAGER

Summary

The Assistant Design Manager supports the engineering and design of fire protection systems by creating 2D drawings and 3D BIM models. The role involves coordinating with project teams, performing hydraulic calculations, and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including fire sprinkler, wet riser, dry riser, hose reel, fire hydrant and other fire protection systems.

• Prepare, develop and update 2D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

• Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for fire protection systems using relevant BIM software.

• Assist in BIM coordination and clash detection with architectural, structural, M&E and other services.

• Assist in carrying out hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and other water-based fire protection systems.

• Prepare fire protection layouts, schematics, details, sections and installation drawings.

• Assist in preparing material take-offs, equipment schedules and technical submissions.

• Review architectural, structural and M&E drawings/models to identify design requirements, clashes and coordination issues.

• Ensure fire protection drawings and BIM models are developed in accordance with project BIM requirements, standards and modelling guidelines.

• Assist in checking designs and drawings for compliance with NFPA, Singapore Standards, SCDF requirements and project specifications.

• Support the preparation and submission of drawings, BIM models, calculations and technical documents to consultants, clients and relevant authorities.

• Assist the project team in responding to RFI, technical queries and design clarifications.

• Revise drawings and BIM models based on consultant/client comments and site requirements.

• Attend site meetings and site inspections when required to verify site conditions and resolve design or coordination issues.

• Maintain proper records of drawings, BIM models, calculations, submissions and design revisions.

• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical information, product data and equipment specifications.

• Perform other engineering, BIM modelling and design-related duties as assigned by the Design Engineer or Design Manager.
