Join Bolton Council as a Assistant Development Officer, based at the well-equipped Bolton Town Hall with excellent motorway access. This role offers a hybrid working model, blending office presence with the flexibility of working from home. As a Household Planning Officer, you will handle a variety of tasks related to householder and minor planning applications, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assess, review, negotiate, seek amendments, evaluate, and make recommendations on householder and minor planning applications, enquiries, appeals, and other related matters in accordance with relevant regulations, legislation, policy, and professional standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities and decisions.
- Provide advice and information on planning applications, enforcement, and related matters.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of supplementary planning documents, policy notes, development briefs, and other planning documents, including those supporting development plan preparation and the Local Development Framework.
- Provide technical support to Planning Officers and Principal Planning Officers.
- Contribute to the Planning Service priorities, performance indicators, and service improvements, and support the wider Corporate business planning processes.
- Promote and engage in the use of ICT hardware and software to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders including other Council departments, elected members, staff, and customers.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Planning Development Manager, Principal Planning Officers, and Planning Officers to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Planning Division.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in handling planning applications and related administrative tasks.
- Strong understanding of relevant regulations, legislation, and policy related to planning.
- Proficiency in ICT and software tools relevant to planning and administrative tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing environments and service demands.
