Assistant Director, Alumni Engagement Operations

**Job Description** Reporting to the Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations, the Assistant Director, Alumni Engagement Operations serves as a member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Advancement team and leads communications, constituent data coordination, and recognition activities that strengthen engagement with CALS and Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) alumni, constituents, donors, volunteers, and friends. The position coordinates bulk email processes and the monthly CALS alumni newsletter; serves as the primary contact for alumni and constituent data requests, coding, and reporting references; manages college award nomination and selection processes; and coordinates stewardship gifts, awards, plaques, and related inventory. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with CALS Advancement, Development, Marketing and Communications, college and Extension partners, university offices, and external organizations to deliver accurate, timely, and well-coordinated communications, data, recognition, and stewardship support. **Required Qualifications** • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and extensive professional experience in communications, data coordination, advancement, alumni relations, or a related area. • Demonstrated experience developing or coordinating email, newsletter, or other audience-focused communications. • Demonstrated experience managing data requests, records, reports, or coding with attention to accuracy and confidentiality. • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects, deadlines, and detailed administrative processes. • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. **Preferred Qualifications** • Master’s degree in a related field. • Experience in higher education advancement, alumni relations, donor relations, or stewardship. • Experience using constituent relationship management and email marketing systems, preferably Blackbaud/AIMS and BBIS. • Experience coordinating awards, recognition, nominations, or inventory. **Pay Band** **Overtime Status** Exempt: Not eligible for overtime **Appointment Type** Regular **Salary Information** $65,000 – $70,000; commensurate with experience **Hours per week** 40 **Review Date** November 11, 2026 **Additional Information** The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check. **About Virginia Tech** Dedicated to its motto, _Ut Prosim_ (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
