Assistant Director of Material
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the hotel's operational and financial objectives.
- Oversee the purchasing of food, beverages, operating supplies, equipment, furniture, fixtures, and services.
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and service agreements to maximize value and minimize risk.
- Ensure timely procurement and delivery of goods and services to meet operational requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with department heads to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing waste and overstocking.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Conduct regular market analysis to identify new products, suppliers, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ethical sourcing practices, and local legal requirements.
- Implement and maintain procurement systems, purchasing controls, and approval processes.
- Monitor supplier performance through regular evaluations and corrective action plans where necessary.
- Lead tendering and request-for-proposal (RFP) processes for major purchases and capital projects.
- Prepare procurement reports, spend analysis, and key performance metrics for senior management.
- Work closely with Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering, Rooms Division, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing and receiving teams.
- Experience in the hospitality industry, preferably with luxury or international hotel brands.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, inventory management, and contract administration.
- Experience with procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of local procurement regulations and ethical sourcing standards.
