Assistant Director of Sales - China Market
The main responsibilities and tasks of this position are as listed below, but not limited to these:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all China luxury travel agencies, other key partners, managing day-to-day relationships and resolving customer and agency queries via WeChat and other China-market channels.
- Manage and grow relationships booked through Accor's proprietary HERA agency program, as well as through Virtuoso, American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, Signature Network Travel, bedbanks and OTAs (primarily Trip.com).
- Drive strategies to grow Suite and Fairmont Gold share of bookings from the China market, and identify and pursue new revenue opportunities within existing agency and account relationships.
- Monitor China market production by segment and channel against budget and forecast, adjusting account coverage and sales priorities as needed to achieve goals.
- Generate and convert M.I.C.E leads from the China market, both through direct client relationships and through intermediaries.
- Manage and service existing China corporate accounts, and actively develop and grow the hotel's China corporate account base.
- Collaborate closely with hotel teams, Global Sales Offices (GSOs), Distribution and Business Development colleagues to convert leads and drive incremental revenue.
- Actively search for and develop new opportunities to promote the hotel in the China market, including through Redbook (Xiaohongshu), WeChat and other relevant China digital and social channels.
- Participate in sales missions, client events, trade shows, site inspections and business development activities locally and internationally.
- Travel regularly to key China source-market cities to meet with top-producing agencies and accounts in person and strengthen relationships.
- At least Bachelor's Degree or Diploma, preferably in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field
- At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in hotel sales, with a strong background in the luxury leisure segment and demonstrated experience managing China market agency and travel trade relationships
- Working knowledge of HERA, hotel CRM, PMS/Opera and Sales & Catering systems (especially Delphi), and Agency 360; proficiency with WeChat and other China-market digital/social platforms
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (spoken and written) is required, given the primary focus on the China market
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills, with a good reputation for integrity
- Deep understanding of China luxury leisure travel trade, including agency, consortia and OTA distribution models
- Ability to manage and grow a portfolio of agency and corporate accounts independently
- Comfort using digital and social channels (WeChat, Redbook/Xiaohongshu) to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively
- Ability to make decisions independently
- Willingness to travel regularly and extensively within China and the broader region to support agency and account relationships
- Experience with luxury travel consortia, such as Virtuoso, American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts, Signature, etc.
