Job Summary
Lead the Research Department at ReCAAP ISC to analyse piracy trends, provide maritime security insights, prepare reports for leadership and international forums, and collaborate with regional and international stakeholders to enhance maritime security in Asia.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Research Department to ensure effective operations and delivery of research outputs
- Analyse trends and patterns in piracy and armed robbery incidents against ships in Asia to inform strategic responses
- Provide detailed assessments and actionable insights on maritime security developments for senior leadership and stakeholders
- Prepare comprehensive briefing papers, reports, and presentations for senior leadership and international maritime security forums
- Liaise and collaborate with regional focal points, international organizations, and maritime stakeholders to support information sharing and cooperation
- Supervise, mentor, and develop research staff to enhance team capabilities and performance
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree from a recognised institution
- Minimum 5 years of research and analytical experience, preferably within government or related organisations
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and produce clear, concise written reports and presentations
- Proven skills in stakeholder engagement and collaboration across multiple organisations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while handling sensitive information with discretion
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Background in maritime security, defence and security analysis, government policy and research, international relations, shipping and maritime industries, or naval/coast guard operational experience
