Assistant Engineer

Summary

Assembles and tests optical modules for failure-analysis systems, handling delicate components and following strict quality procedures in a cleanroom environment.

Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Production Technician with optical assembly experience to build, align and test the optical modules used in our failure analysis systems. You will work in a climate-controlled production area following documented procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble optical sub-assemblies and modules (lenses, mirrors, objectives, filters, beam splitters, cameras, light sources) according to drawings, SOPs and work instructions.

• Handle, clean and inspect optical components without damage or contamination.

• Perform optical alignment and adjustment; check image quality and record results.

• Carryout mechanical and electrical assembly of machine sub-systems, including cable routing and connector termination.

• Run in-process checks and final functional tests; record data and complete production documentation.

• Identify defective parts or workmanship issues and report them to the Supervisor or QA.

• Maintain cleanliness, 5S and ESD discipline in the production area.

• Support kitting, material handling and stock counts as required.

Requirements

• NITEC/ Higher NITEC in Precision Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Opto-electronics, or equivalent. Relevant experience will also be considered in place of formal qualifications.

• At least 1–3 years of assembly experience, with hands-on exposure to optical components or optical instruments (e.g. microscopes, cameras, laser systems, imaging modules).

• Able to handle small, delicate parts with care and work with hand tools, torque drivers and microscopes.

• Able to read and follow assembly drawings, BOMs and work instructions.

• Good eyesight and colour vision; steady hands and attention to detail.

• Basic English (spoken and written) for reading instructions and recording results.

• Willing to work with class IV lasers with prescribed personal protection equipment.
