Assistant Finance Manager
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior accounting role.
- Experience in the manufacturing, chemical, engineering, or industrial sector is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, taxation, audit, and internal controls.
- Good understanding of Singapore accounting standards, GST requirements, corporate tax, and statutory reporting obligations.
- Experience in preparing monthly management accounts, financial analysis, forecasts, and cash-flow projections.
- Proficient in ERP or accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, lookup formulas, and financial data analysis.
- Experience in inventory costing, fixed-asset accounting, product costing, and manufacturing cost analysis is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple deadlines and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, responsible, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Able to supervise and guide finance team members and work effectively with internal departments, auditors, banks, tax agents, and other external parties.
Job Description
- Assist the Finance Manager in overseeing the company’s daily finance and accounting operations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of the monthly and year-end financial closing processes.
- Review general ledger entries, journal postings, account reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and financial schedules.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, cash flow, and banking transactions.
- Prepare annual budgets, financial forecasts, cash-flow projections, and budget-versus-actual variance analyses.
- Analyze operating expenses, production costs, inventory movements, margins, and financial performance.
- Review inventory valuation, product costing, cost allocation, work-in-progress, and manufacturing variances.
- Ensure proper accounting and control of fixed assets, depreciation, capital expenditure, and asset disposals.
- Coordinate with department heads on budgeting, cost control, financial planning, and operational expenditure.
- Prepare and review GST submissions, corporate tax schedules, statutory reports, and other regulatory filings.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, banks, government agencies, insurers, and other professional service providers.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documents, reconciliations, and explanations.
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and approval authorities.
- Identify financial risks, control weaknesses, and process gaps, and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
- Support the implementation and improvement of ERP systems, finance automation, digital reporting, and workflow processes.
- Review payment documents, purchase-related financial records, employee claims, and supporting documents before approval.
- Monitor intercompany transactions, balances, reconciliations, and related-party reporting where applicable.
- Supervise, guide, and review the work of finance team members to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Assist with financial analysis and reports required by senior management for business planning and decision-making.
- Deputize for the Finance Manager when required.
- Perform other finance, accounting, and administrative duties assigned by management.
