Assistant Financial Controller
About Clinically AI
Clinically AI is redefining how behavioral health and long-term care organizations work by delivering an intelligence layer that automates documentation, auditing, and operational workflows at scale. Our platform already creates immense value — saving thousands of hours for clinicians and strengthening sustainability for providers serving some of the nation's most vulnerable communities. We're expanding rapidly and engineering our way through some of the hardest problems in healthcare and AI governance.
The Opportunity
We're hiring an Assistant Controller to own day-to-day accounting operations and monthly close for our SaaS business, with guidance from a fractional finance leader. You'll manage AP/AR, maintain GAAP-accurate financials in QuickBooks, and oversee revenue recognition by partnering with our rev-rec automation vendors — ensuring Stripe billing activity is correctly reflected in revenue, deferred revenue, and cash.
This is a hands-on role focused on building clean, repeatable processes, improving reporting and forecasting visibility, and strengthening controls as we scale — a career-defining opportunity to build a world-class finance backbone and grow your scope and seniority alongside the company.
What You'll Own
Accounting & close. Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close — journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation — and maintain accurate GAAP financials (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and supporting schedules.
AP/AR operations. Run Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable end-to-end, including vendor onboarding, approvals, payment runs, invoicing, collections, and aging management.
Stripe, billing, and data integrity. Maintain a strong operational understanding of Stripe activity and ensure it flows correctly into accounting systems and reconciles cleanly during close.
Revenue recognition (SaaS / ASC 606). Own revenue recognition, including performance obligation assessment and treatment of discounts and multi-year agreements, while managing rev-rec automation tools and vendors and reviewing outputs for accuracy.
Reporting & forecasting. Build forecasting models and reporting rhythms that give leadership clear visibility into cash, runway, and operating performance, with variance explanations rather than just numbers.
Controls & compliance. Build and improve internal controls, approval workflows, and accounting policies as the company grows, and coordinate with external partners (CPA firm, tax, payroll, audit support) to stay audit-ready.
What We're Looking For
Builder's Mindset. You thrive in fast-moving environments and like building structure out of chaos.
Dual Fluency. You're equally comfortable in Stripe billing flows as you are explaining GAAP outcomes to leadership.
Obsessive About Clean Data. You default to "what's the source of truth?" and "how do we make this auditable?"
Systems Thinking. You build processes that reduce surprises — clean close, clear revenue schedules, predictable cash visibility.
High Ownership. You're hands-on and want to grow your scope as the organization scales.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in SaaS or recurring-revenue businesses.
Deep understanding of GAAP-based accounting for SaaS, including revenue recognition (ASC 606).
Direct ownership of AP and AR operations, including invoicing, collections, and vendor management.
Strong working knowledge of Stripe (payments, refunds, disputes, fees, payouts) and how it ties to financial reporting.
Strong QuickBooks experience (QuickBooks Online preferred) with full GL ownership.
Experience managing revenue recognition automation tools/vendors and validating outputs for accuracy.
Strong forecasting skills, including cash forecasting and burn/runway visibility.
Advanced Excel and Google Sheets capabilities (models, schedules, reconciliations, roll-forwards).
Preferred Qualifications
CPA and/or public accounting background.
Experience improving or implementing billing and finance automation workflows.
Experience preparing for or supporting audits, SOC 2 evidence requests, and enterprise customer financial due diligence.
Experience scaling finance at a high-growth startup (e.g., $3M → $10M+).
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually, plus a performance-based bonus. Final compensation will be based on experience, seniority, and fit with the scope of the role.
We offer competitive compensation, performance-based incentives, healthcare coverage, and flexible time off.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Clinically AI provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetics, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
