Assistant General Manager – Business Development – Power Trading

Job Purpose

The Business Development Lead – South India will be responsible for expanding Enerparc Power Trading’s customer and generator portfolio, with a balanced focus on power exchange trades and OTC/bilateral contracts. The role involves acquiring new clients, structuring PPAs, engaging with regulators and utilities, and driving cross-selling opportunities across Enerparc India’s offerings (IPP, EPC, O&M, BESS, and Green PPAs). The position requires strong market knowledge, regulatory awareness, and proven expertise in power trading business development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client & Generator Acquisition

  • Onboard new customers (C&I, DISCOMs, Captive Users) and renewable generators for both power exchange trades and OTC/bilateral contracts.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, focusing on structured PPAs, open access, and bilateral arrangements.

2. Trading & Deal Origination

  • Originate and solicit trades for Power Exchanges (Day Ahead, Term Ahead, RTM, G-TAM) and OTC markets.
  • Drive bilateral and medium/long-term trading opportunities in South India.
  • Support structuring of customized deals including green attributes (RECs, I-RECs, Carbon Credits).

3. Market Development & Strategy

  • Track market developments, competitor activity, and regulatory updates (SERC, CERC, SLDC/RLDC).
  • Formulate state-specific market views on demand, supply, and pricing.
  • Conduct impact assessments of regulatory changes on trading opportunities.

4. Cross-Selling of Enerparc Solutions

  • Collaborate with Enerparc India teams to cross-sell across business lines (IPP projects, EPC services, O&M solutions, Battery Energy Storage, and Green Corporate PPAs).
  • Identify opportunities to bundle trading services with other Enerparc offerings for enhanced customer value.

5. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with regulators, utilities, DISCOMs, and industry associations to build strong networks and ensure business visibility.
  • Represent the company at workshops, conferences, and client seminars.

6. MIS & Reporting

  • Prepare regular MIS reports for management on market trends, trading performance, and pipeline.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and revenue forecasting.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate in Engineering, Business Administration, Energy or Power

Experience

  • 10+ years of power trading experience, preferably with reputed trading companies.
  • Proven track record in customer and generator acquisition.
  • Expertise in open access regulations, bilateral trading, and PPAs.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute regional business plans.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in South India.
  • Certifications in Power Trading/ Energy Markets will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in CRM Tools is expected.
