We are seeking a passionate and driven Assistant Manager to join our Japanese restaurant team. In this key leadership role, you will support daily operations, deliver exceptional guest experiences, and cultivate a positive and high-performing team environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in hospitality, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and demonstrates a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and service culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth and efficient service
- Lead, train, and motivate team members to maintain high standards of food quality and customer service
- Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and minimize waste through effective stock control
- Ensure consistency and quality in food preparation in alignment with restaurant standards
- Handle cash and POS transactions accurately (e.g., Toast, Aloha, Micros)
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing staff development
- Support scheduling, manage floor operations, and resolve guest concerns promptly
- Monitor labor and operational costs to support budgeting goals
- Foster a welcoming, team-oriented environment that enhances guest satisfaction
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an Assistant Manager or Supervisor in the restaurant industry
- Strong knowledge of food service operations, kitchen workflow, and Japanese cuisine preferred
- Experience with POS systems (Toast) and cash handling
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and manage a diverse team
- Knowledge of inventory control, food safety standards, and compliance regulations
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience in casual dining required; fine dining or hotel background is a plus
