Assistant General Manager
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is responsible for assisting the General Manager in overseeing all daily restaurant operations to ensure profitability, operational excellence, and an exceptional guest experience. The AGM supports leadership development, financial accountability, team performance, and execution of company standards while helping maintain the Ojos Locos brand culture.
The AGM serves as a key leader within the restaurant by supporting all Front of House and Back of House operations, coaching managers and hourly team members, and ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager in all aspects of restaurant operations to ensure profitability and operational success.
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor expenses.
- Assist with hiring, training, developing, mentoring, and coaching management staff and hourly team members.
- Lead by example while maintaining a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
- Ensure all financial, inventory, payroll, and administrative duties are completed accurately and on time.
- Assist in managing labor costs, scheduling, budgeting, and inventory controls.
- Ensure proper execution of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and maintenance standards in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Support FOH and BOH operations to ensure high quality food, beverage, and guest service standards are consistently achieved.
- Respond to guest complaints and resolve issues promptly to ensure guest satisfaction and retention.
- Maintain a professional restaurant image including cleanliness, uniforms, and appearance standards.
- Ensure all opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures are completed properly.
- Assist the General Manager in driving sales growth, profitability, and operational performance goals.
- Monitor team performance and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
- Ensure proper security and safety procedures are followed to protect employees, guests, and company assets.
- Assist with implementation of company initiatives, promotions, menu rollouts, and operational changes.
- Properly operate and troubleshoot POS systems and communicate with IT support when necessary.
- Develop future leaders by supporting training and succession planning initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- 2-4 years of restaurant management experience required.
- High-volume bar and restaurant experience preferred.
- Previous leadership experience overseeing multiple departments preferred.
- Availability to work during holidays, nights, and weekends with increased hours during peak times.
Requirements and Skills
- Liquor License certification is mandatory
- Food manager certificate required
- Ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish
