The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for Investigations, (West) position is in the Office of Investigations (INV), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Office of Investigations is responsible for investigating and bringing to the appropriate criminal, civil, and administrative justice system, those individuals and organizations involved in financial, professional, civil, or criminal misconduct relating to DHS programs and operations. The incumbent serves as the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations with oversight of the Western Region (AIGI/West) and its functions. Under the direction of and working with the Deputy Inspector General for Investigations (DIGI), the incumbent is responsible for the operational and functional development, implementation, and supervision of DHS OIG investigative activities for field operations throughout the Office of Investigations as well as participating in the direction, development and implementation of OIG policies, procedures and programs for investigations. As the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations, (West) you will be required to perform the following major duties: Manages a comprehensive national program of investigations concerning illegal or prohibited activities related to the programs and operations of DHS inclusive of investigations of fraud, abuse of public trust, employee integrity and misconduct, and white-collar crime that contributed to the failure of DHS programs and operations. Serves as the OIG's representative in interagency investigative matters and maintains close and cooperative relationships with key officials of the DHS and other Government departments and agencies in order that the operations of all agencies having an interest in an investigative matter may be fully coordinated. Responds to inquiries by Agency officials, other Government units, and the public relating to OIG investigative matters. Manages all OIG criminal and administrative investigative activities in assigned areas through subordinate office and division managers and supervisors. Oversees and executes a full range of managerial and supervisory activities over subordinate supervisors and immediate staff personnel. Coordinates program activities with the AIG for the other DHS OIG Program Offices such as Audits, Special Reviews, Inspections & Evaluations, Integrity, Innovation, Counsel, or their designees in developing joint audits, inspections, reviews, and investigative activities. Manages investigations of major importance, which are frequently sensitive or complex and which have a high-level agency interest. Analyzes proposed legislation and regulations to determine the projected impact on the economy and efficiency in administration of INV's programs and activities.
