Assistant Linesman (Virgin Gorda)
Position: Assistant Linesman
Reports to: T&D Foreman- Lines and Metering

Job Summary:
The Assistant Linesman supports the delivery of a safe, reliable, and high‑quality electrical supply by assisting with the construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the Transmission & Distribution network. The role requires adherence to safety standards, teamwork, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varying environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the construction and maintenance of low‑voltage and high‑voltage circuits.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of pole‑mounted transformers, streetlights, high‑voltage and low‑voltage open conductors, service cables, stays, and all other overhead line hardware.
- Assist in isolating and energizing spur lines.
- Assist in responding to consumer fault reports.
- Assist with line clearing activities.
- Assist with the planting and setting of poles.
- Assist in identifying, specifying, and collecting materials required for job assignments.
- Assist with disconnections and reconnections.
- Maintain all tools and equipment issued.
- Be available and on‑call to work outside normal working hours as required.
- Travel to sister islands to perform duties when necessary.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with all employees of the Corporation.
- Perform any other related duties within your competence as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Education
- High School Diploma (minimum requirement).
- Additional technical qualifications are an asset.
- Experience
- At least one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions

Work Environment
- Primarily field-based with regular outdoor activity.
- May require travel to sister islands.
- Involve weekend, on-call and after-hours work.
- Cross training in other sections within the T&D department.
Compensation
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
