Assistant Manager, Advocacy

Summary of Position:

The Assistant Manager, Advocacy, plays an important role in supporting ex-offenders in their journey towards desistance and successful reintegration into the community. This role includes outreach, programme facilitation, client support, engagement, and administrative assistance to the Deputy Director, Advocacy. The individual contributes to the effective implementation and alignment of in-care and after-care initiatives with the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer the Inmates’ Family Support Fund, including processing applications, conducting assessments, and ensuring disbursements follow established SOPs.
  • Track fund utilization and maintain accurate records to support reporting, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor fund utilization, risk management, and compliance with internal controls, audit, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate the Desistor Network by engaging ex-offenders, linking them with community resources, and supporting their development as peer supporters.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including the Singapore Prison Service, community partners, and social service agencies, to coordinate services and support for beneficiaries.
  • Support the engagement of Desistor members and Mentors who are keen to volunteer and contribute back to the community.
  • Assist the Deputy Director, Advocacy, in reviewing and assessing the effectiveness of programmes against organizational objectives.
  • Provide feedback and insights gathered from ground-level interactions to inform strategic planning and programme improvements.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for programme sessions, volunteer activities, and outreach events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to meet evolving organizational and service delivery needs.

Education: Degree or Diploma, in anyfield

Experience

  • Fresh graduate or minimum one year of relevant work experience
  • Prior working experience in social services will be an advantage

Skills

  • Strong numerical accuracy, with the ability to detect anomalies, resolve discrepancies, verify payments, and maintain clear audit trails.
  • Able to manage confidential financial and personal data securely and comply with data-protection and access-control requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills; able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Power-point and Outlook.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, lookup functions, data validation, reconciliation, large-data set management, and spreadsheet-based payout calculations; experience with databases, data imports and exports, and process automation is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Canva for branded EDMs and digital communication materials.
