Assistant Manager – Corporate EHS (Group Governance)

Committed to uncompromising workplace safety, ESG excellence, and sustainable manufacturing practices, their Corporate Group EHS division is seeking an experienced, proactive Assistant Manager – Corporate EHS to anchor group-level governance, policy standardization, and multi-site safety compliance.

Mission

Operating from the Group Headquarters, the Assistant Manager – Corporate EHS serves as the strategic corporate bridge between executive leadership and site-level entity EHS teams. This role provides technical advisory and corporate governance to ensure all operating business units adhere strictly to Group safety benchmarks, ISO management standards, and Malaysian statutory mandates.

Key responsibilities include standardizing corporate EHS frameworks, leading Group-level compliance audits, steering deep-dive root cause analyses (RCA) on significant incidents, consolidating multi-site analytics for executive review, and driving a unified zero-harm culture across the conglomerate.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

1. Group EHS Policy, Strategy & Framework Governance

• Policy Harmonization: Support the development, continuous review, and group-wide standardization of corporate EHS policies, operational SOPs, and risk management systems.
  

• Corporate Oversight: Provide technical guidance and corporate governance to site-level EHS leads across multiple operating entities to ensure standard implementation of Group directives.
  

• Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and enforce group-wide compliance with national occupational safety, health, and environmental legislation (OSHA 1994 & Amendments, Environmental Quality Act, and related statutory guidelines).
  

2. Group Audits, Risk Assessments & Incident Review

• Audit Execution: Plan, coordinate, and lead comprehensive Group-level EHS compliance audits, baseline environmental assessments, and multi-site risk reviews.
  

• RCA & Incident Investigation: Review and evaluate significant site-level incidents and near-misses, conducting deep-dive Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and verifying that robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) are standardized across all entities.
  

• Action Tracking: Monitor and follow up systematically on audit findings, non-conformity closures, and statutory inspection recommendations with entity teams.
  

3. Performance Analytics, Management Reporting & Dashboards

• Central Analytics: Maintain, analyze, and optimize Group EHS performance records, central digital dashboards, and lead/lag safety indicators.
  

• Executive Reporting: Consolidate multi-site data into clear, analytical performance reports and risk assessments for presentation to senior management and corporate executive reviews.
  

• Digitalization: Assist in driving continuous improvement and digital operational tools to enhance multi-site reporting efficiency.
  

4. Cross-Entity Capability Building & Knowledge Transfer

• Safety Culture: Champion group-wide capability-building initiatives, coordinating targeted safety workshops, training modules, and technical awareness programs.
  

• Best-Practice Sharing: Facilitate cross-entity communication to share successful safety innovations, operational learnings, and sustainable engineering practices.
  

Requirements

Education & Professional Background

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
  

• Tenure: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive EHS experience, with substantial exposure within manufacturing, heavy industry, metal processing, or multi-site chemical environments.
  

• Corporate / Multi-Site Scope: Prior experience coordinating safety governance, audits, or compliance across multiple plants or business entities is an added advantage.
  

Technical Competencies & Standards

• Statutory Mastery: Thorough working knowledge of Malaysian occupational safety, health, and environmental legislation, alongside DOSH (JKKP) and DOE regulatory inspection workflows.
  

• Management Frameworks: Practical, hands-on experience implementing and auditing ISO 14001 (EMS) and ISO 45001 (OHSMS) management systems.
  

• Certifications (Added Advantage): Professional competency registrations (such as DOSH Safety & Health Officer / Green Book SHO, CePSWaM, CePIETSO, or ISO Lead Auditor credentials) are highly advantageous.
  

Language & Operational Profile

• Linguistic Capability: Professional written and spoken fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Professional proficiency in Mandarin / Chinese is required to liaise effectively with group executive stakeholders, cross-entity operations, and regional vendor networks.
  

• Mobility: Willingness and physical capability to travel periodically to operating plant entities across Malaysia for audits, site inspections, and incident reviews.
  

• Personal Attributes: Strong analytical capability, high stakeholder management finesse, and a constructive, solutions-oriented approach to corporate safety governance.
