Job Purpose: This position is responsible for ensuring timely preparation of documents and payment of duty charges to ensure smooth entry of vessels, compliances are in place and penalties are managed
Customs Executive
Customs Clearance
- Liaise with internal teams to gather key documents for customs clearance, including invoices, weight certificates, quality certificates, bills of lading, and FTA certificates.
- Prepare the Import General Manifest (IGM) and bill of entry to facilitate timely vessel entry into the port.
- Ensure registration on the Coal Import Monitoring System (CIMS) as applicable to the import items.
- Manage disputes with port authorities regarding the interpretation of customs regulations and compliance.
- For coastal transportation, handle customs approval for cargo movement at load and discharge ports.
- Avail duty benefits under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) as applicable.
- Escalate any clearance-related challenges to the Customs Head.
- Ensure all relevant documents are received from overseas suppliers and rectify any errors.
- Coordinate with vessel agents for the issuance of Dispatch Orders.
- Prepare responses to customs queries on duty, including cargo valuation, conflict of interests, and IFTA-related matters.
- Ensure duty payments are aligned with the Risk Management System (RMS) and provisional/final assessments.
- Obtain the Out Of Charge (OOC) document and share the Sight Through Operations (STO) document with the Finance team for payment clearance.
Customs Payment Management
- Determine customs payments based on cargo and current customs regulations.
- Update cargo information in the Risk Management System (RMS).
- Ensure bonds and guarantees given to the Customs department are canceled, refunds obtained before deadlines, and extensions are requested where necessary.
- Assist the Customs Head in purchasing scrips.
CHA Management
- Assist the Customs Head in finalizing and renewing contracts with Customs House Agents (CHAs).
- Review CHA performance and escalate issues to the Customs Head as needed.
- Ensure timely payment release to CHAs.
Documentation and MIS
- Coordinate with stakeholders to obtain all required documents.
- Ensure all customs pre and post-clearance documentation is filed and stored electronically.
Digitisation and Automation
- Support digitization strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the innovation and implementation of automation solutions in line with organizational goals and strategy.

Education Qualification:
Commerce Graduate, preferable to have LLB
