Job Role
We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to manage key accounting functions and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The role covers AP, AR, GL, GST, bank reconciliation, fixed assets and month-end/year-end closing, with responsibility for reviewing transactions, resolving accounting issues and maintaining proper financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review key accounting functions including AP, AR, GL, P2P, bank and cash, fixed assets, inventory and financial reporting.
- Review and validate AP payment batches and accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure timely completion of financial schedules and reports.
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations, POS reconciliations and GL reconciliations.
- Manage GST submissions and compliance requirements.
- Maintain and review fixed asset and Right-of-Use (ROU) asset schedules.
- Review financial reports including Trial Balance, P&L and Balance Sheet and investigate discrepancies where required.
- Ensure proper financial controls, documentation and SOPs are maintained.
- Liaise with internal departments, auditors, external parties and ERP vendors to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
- Support internal and external audits, asset verification and inventory stock counts.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support automation initiatives such as RPA and Power BI.
- Perform other finance-related projects and duties as assigned by the Head of Department or CFO.
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy, Accounting or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in full-set accounting with strong exposure to AP, AR and GL.
- Experience in month-end/year-end closing, GST and financial reporting.
- Good knowledge of bank reconciliation, fixed assets and inventory accounting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
- Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems; Synergix experience is an advantage.
- Experience with RPA, Power BI or other finance automation tools is an added advantage.
- Meticulous, organised and comfortable working with high transaction volumes.
- Able to work independently, manage deadlines and resolve accounting issues effectively.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
