Assistant Manager, Liner Operations (Ship Owner)

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage vessel scheduling to ensure reliable and efficient liner service operations.
  • Develop and optimise vessel stowage plans to maximise cargo utilisation while ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with ports, terminals, agents, vessel masters, and internal departments to ensure smooth port calls and cargo operations.
  • Monitor vessel schedules and proactively manage delays, berth windows, and schedule recovery plans.
  • Work closely with commercial, equipment control, and customer service teams to optimise cargo allocation and vessel capacity.
  • Review cargo forecasts and operational constraints to support voyage planning.
  • Resolve operational issues affecting vessel schedules and cargo movements.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare operational reports, analyse vessel performance, and recommend process improvements.
  • Support and guide junior operations staff where required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in liner operations, vessel operations, or shipping operations.
  • Strong experience in vessel scheduling and stowage planning is essential.
  • Good understanding of container shipping operations, port operations, and cargo planning.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with vessel planning or shipping systems is advantageous.
