Assistant Manager / Manager, Ecommerce

Job Summary

Benjamin Barker is looking for a commercially driven and strategic Ecommerce Assistant Manager / Manager to lead the growth of our eCommerce business. This role owns ecommerce trading, digital merchandising, customer experience optimization, inventory performance, and commercial planning to drive sustainable online revenue and profitability.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, data-led and confident in making commercial decisions across product, promotions, website experience and trading performance. You will work closely with various teams to deliver a seamless ecommerce experience that supports brand growth and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Ecommerce Trading & Commercial Performance

• Develop and execute the ecommerce trading strategy and promotional calendar to achieve revenue, margin and profitability targets.

• Own day-to-day ecommerce performance, including online sales, conversion rate, Average Order Value, Units Per Transaction and customer experience.

• Identify commercial growth opportunities through pricing, promotions, bundles, cross-selling, upselling and campaign performance analysis.

• Lead regular performance reviews and translate insights into practical actions.

Digital Merchandising, Inventory & Customer Experience

• Plan and manage digital merchandising across all site pages based on the Marketing and Ecommerce trading calendar, campaign launches, and other ad hoc activities.

• Analyze product placement, category structure, recommendations, and onsite merchandising to improve conversion and sales.

• Monitor inventory health, sell-through, slow-moving products and out-of-stock risks, and recommend commercial actions based on customer demand and sales trends.

• Partner with relevant teams and stakeholders to deliver a consistent omnichannel customer journey.

Platform Optimization, Analytics & Innovation

• Drive inter-departmental efforts to improve ecommerce platforms, conversion rate, usability, and operational efficiency.

• Translate commercial objectives and customer insights into clear business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.

• Identify opportunities for conversion rate optimization through customer behaviour analysis, usability improvements, experimentation, and A/B testing.

• Analyze ecommerce KPIs and prepare weekly or monthly reports with clear recommendations for improvement.

• Stay updated on ecommerce technologies, AI solutions and industry best practices that can strengthen Benjamin Barker’s digital capabilities.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Ecommerce, Digital Marketing, Business, Information Technology or a related discipline.

• 6-10 years of ecommerce experience, preferably in fashion, lifestyle, premium retail or Direct-to- Consumer businesses.

• Proven experience managing and growing an ecommerce business with accountability for commercial performance.

• Strong understanding of ecommerce trading, digital merchandising, online retail operations, and customer behaviour.

• Commercially sharp, data-driven and comfortable interpreting performance metrics to make business decisions.

• Experience with Shopify or other ecommerce platforms, and analytics tools such as GA4, Shopify Analytics, Looker Studio, Power BI or similar.

• Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to work effectively across various stakeholders and teams.

• Hands-on, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
