Role
The Café Assistant Manager leads front-of-house, back-of-house, and coffee shop operations during assigned shifts. This role supports the management team while ensuring excellent guest service, food quality, safe operations, and a positive team environment.


What you'll do
• Lead FOH, BOH, and coffee shop operations during assigned shifts
• Delegate tasks and maintain appropriate staffing and coverage
• Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality food and beverage service
• Coach, train, support, and motivate team members
• Resolve guest concerns and operational problems promptly
• Complete and verify opening, closing, cash, and deposit procedures
• Maintain cleanliness, food safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety standards
• Support inventory, ordering, scheduling, and labor-cost management
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and maintain clear shift-to-shift communication
• Promote teamwork and cross-training throughout the café

What we are looking for
• At least one year of restaurant operations or food-service management experience
• Experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of POS, scheduling, inventory, and cash-handling procedures
• Valid Tennessee ABC Card or ability to obtain one
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Open availability, including days, weekends, and holidays

What success looks like
• Guests receive prompt, friendly, and accurate service
• Food and beverages meet quality and presentation standards
• FOH, BOH, and coffee shop teams work together effectively
• Labor, food cost, and ticket-time goals are maintained
• The café remains clean, safe, stocked, and ready for service

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for up to 8–10 hours per shift
• Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
• Frequently bend, reach, and stoop
• Operate POS systems and kitchen equipment
• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
