Role Overview
As an Assistant Restaurant Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the outlet, working closely with the Restaurant Manager and team to deliver a smooth, consistent and enjoyable guest experience.
You’ll be hands-on on the floor, leading the team through daily service and supporting operations across café and bar hours. With a strong focus on our evening bar operations, you’ll help maintain service standards, develop the team and ensure the outlet runs efficiently during both regular and peak periods.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced hospitality professional who leads by example, is confident with guests and enjoys working in a fast-paced café-bar environment.
Key Responsibilities
Outlet Operations
- Support the Restaurant Manager in managing daily outlet operations and service
- Lead and support the service team across café, lunch, dinner and evening bar operations
- Ensure smooth service flow and consistent standards throughout each shift
- Oversee opening and closing procedures and ensure the outlet is operationally ready
- Monitor daily operations and proactively resolve service or operational issues
- Take responsibility for the outlet in the Restaurant Manager’s absence when required
- Work closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth coordination during service
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional and guest-focused working environment
- Train and develop team members on service standards, product knowledge and SOPs
- Support manpower planning, scheduling and daily task allocation
- Provide guidance and feedback to team members to maintain service quality
- Assist with onboarding and performance management where required
- Build a strong team culture and encourage effective communication across the outlet
Bar & Service Operations
- Take an active role in overseeing evening bar operations and service standards
- Ensure cocktails, beverages and food are served consistently and efficiently
- Work closely with the Bar and Kitchen teams to maintain smooth service flow
- Support the team in handling busy periods and high-volume service
- Ensure bar and floor areas are properly set up, stocked and guest-ready
- Assist with beverage and service SOPs and ensure they are followed consistently
- Stay engaged with guests and maintain a strong floor presence throughout service
Guest Experience
- Deliver warm, attentive and professional service to every guest
- Engage with guests and build positive relationships with regulars
- Handle guest feedback, requests and service recovery professionally
- Monitor overall guest experience and proactively address issues
- Help create a welcoming and energetic environment that encourages guests to return
Inventory & Business Operations
- Assist with stocktakes, inventory checks and stock replenishment
- Monitor food and beverage usage, wastage and stock levels
- Support cost control and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency
- Assist with monitoring sales, labour and operational performance
- Maintain accurate daily operational records and reports where required
- Ensure outlet equipment, facilities and service areas are maintained to standard
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant F&B or hospitality experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or management role
- Experience in café, restaurant, bar or all-day dining environments preferred
- Strong understanding of front-of-house and outlet operations
- Comfortable working in a bar-focused environment and during evening service
- Proven ability to lead, train and motivate a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident in handling guests and service recovery
- Organised, responsible and attentive to detail
- Able to multitask and remain calm and effective during busy service periods
- Hands-on, positive and solutions-oriented approach
- Able to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
