Assistant Marine Superintendent
Summary
Oversee maritime safety and compliance for a shipping company by conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations on vessels in Singapore.
- Conduct internal safety inspections, navigational audits, and ISM audits onboard vessels.
- Coordinate and attend external ISM and BIRE/SIRE inspections, including pre-vetting preparation and timely submission of rectification reports.
- Monitor, follow up on and close out vessel deficiency reports, with a strict focus on critical equipment.
- Evaluate Master and sea staff performance during onboard inspections and conduct crew interviews as requested by the Crewing department.
- Attend to vessels to verify and enforce health, safety, and environmental protection standards in line with company policies, national / international rules and clients requirements.
- Investigate marine incidents or accidents and compile comprehensive root-cause reports.
- Review industry best practices and legislation changes, proposing necessary amendments to the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) manuals.
- Prepare and upload relevant TMSA / OCIMF elements into the system.
- Manage the timely servicing of vessel safety equipment (e.g., life rafts, fire-fighting appliances).
- Inspect third party ships for purchase or charter, vessel takeovers and newbuilding tasks as assigned by the Company.
Job Requirements:
- Possess Certificate of Competency
- Preferably to have 2 years experiences as Master in Tanker vessel and relevant shore-based experience.
- Able and willing to travel overseas to visit or sail with company vessels or other assigned vessels as and when required.
- Good communication skills in English.
