Job Summary
We seek a motivated Mechanical Automation Designer to join a multi-discipline team designing automation machines for manufacturing industries. Junior engineers with 2 years’ experience interested in automation are welcome to apply as trainee designers.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical automation systems using 3D CAD and 2D drafting tools such as SolidWorks or AutoDesk Inventor to develop detailed assembly and component designs
- Source materials and suppliers to support design requirements and ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
- Manage project timelines by coordinating supply schedules and tracking progress to meet delivery targets
- Collaborate with assembly teams to provide troubleshooting support and resolve mechanical design issues
- Provide onsite technical support during installation and commissioning phases to ensure smooth project execution
- Prepare comprehensive documentation including bills of materials, project schedules, user manuals, and training materials
- Develop and conduct training sessions for end-users to ensure proper operation and maintenance of automation equipment
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to support documentation and reporting tasks
- Strong knowledge of mechanical component sizing and sourcing to optimize design functionality
- Experience in automated equipment and automation design within semiconductor or hard disk industries
- Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
- 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in automation or equipment design
- Fresh graduates in Mechanical or Mechatronic disciplines are encouraged to apply as Assistant Engineers
- Retired Automation Designers may be considered for contract roles
