Assistant/ Mechanical Design Manager - Data Centre Developer

We're partnering with a fast-growing data centre developer with an active pipeline across Southeast Asia to hire an Assistant / Mechanical Design Manager based in Singapore. This is a senior technical role within the Design Delivery function, reporting to the Engineering Lead. You'll own mechanical design across multiple concurrent greenfield and fit-out DC projects spanning regional metros - from Basis of Design through to construction drawing validation - with a strong focus on reliability, sustainability, and speed to market.


What you'll be doing

  • Lead mechanical design delivery across multiple regional DC projects simultaneously, within budget and programme
  • Develop tender and construction drawings, draft tender specifications, and conduct technical evaluations
  • Review equipment specifications, shop drawings, and construction drawings to ensure design is well-coordinated, maintainable, and code-compliant
  • Own design quality assurance from 30% through to 90% design stage and construction drawing sign-off
  • Perform technical downloads to construction and operations teams and provide problem-solving support on site
  • Drive authority pre-consultation and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Develop standardised construction methodology, inspection checklists, and material specifications
  • Attend technical interviews with clients and vendors
  • Design for next-generation AI workloads


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Design experience in Data Centre / substation or other critical facilities is a MUST
  • Working knowledge of both mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, power distribution, fire safety, BMS/ELV, backup systems, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, BOQs, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Good communication and coordination skills to liaise with consultants, contractors, vendors, and project teams.
  • Comfortable with on-site work including site inspections, safety compliance, and physical site conditions.
