About the Role
As the Assistant Night Manager, you'll assist with the night operations of the hotel, creating a warm and personalised welcome experience for guests overnight, and will step up to cover days off for the Night Manager — overseeing night operations and ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff and the property at all times. You'll oversee the overnight performance of the Rooms Division and Food & Beverage departments in the absence of Heads of Department, reporting to the Rooms Division Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome late arrival guests and farewell early departures, maximising the guest experience alongside the safety and security of the property.
Manage daily reconciliation of hotel outlets, completing daily revenue postings and auditing the day's trading transactions before posting.
Oversee the management and audit of physical keys, ensuring all keys are accounted for and access is properly controlled.
Manage and confirm reservation details and in-house guest accounts, ensuring all details are recorded accurately.
Lead the crew on shift, ensuring the team is impeccably presented and offering a warm welcome to all guests.
Step up to cover the Night Manager's days off, overseeing night operations and leading the team in their absence.
Perform regular security and safety walk-throughs of the hotel to identify and prevent potential hazards.
Ensure all cashiering policies are followed and optimise the profitability of overnight operations.
Coach and support the team, assisting with training and fostering a positive team culture across the hotel.
What You'll Bring
A relevant NZ Register Diploma (or equivalent qualification), or at least three years' relevant experience in hotel Front Office, night audit or duty management.
Previous experience in a night audit, Front Office or hotel supervisory role, with the confidence to lead a team overnight.
Strong numerical and administrative accuracy, with confidence using hotel systems for cashiering and audit functions.
A genuine passion for guest service, with the composure to handle the unexpected overnight.
Sound judgement and leadership to step up and run the hotel in the absence of senior management.
Excellent communication skills and a calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.
Full-drivers license for Valet Parking.
