Job Summary
The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the produce department. This role assists with driving sales, maintaining product quality and freshness, delivering exceptional customer service, and leading department associates. The Assistant Produce Manager assumes department leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Produce Manager.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations- Assist in managing daily produce department operations to ensure efficient execution and department success.
- Maintain appealing, fully stocked, and properly merchandised produce displays.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and product replenishment.
- Ensure proper product rotation and freshness standards are consistently followed.
- Help minimize shrink through effective inventory management and product handling practices.
- Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming shopping environment.
- Assist customers with product selection, preparation suggestions, and product-related questions.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer concerns and requests.
- Promote produce sales through product knowledge, merchandising, and suggestive selling techniques.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing produce associates.
- Provide coaching and support to help associates achieve performance expectations.
- Help coordinate daily work assignments and labor needs.
- Foster a positive, productive, and customer-focused work environment.
- Support performance management and accountability initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance standards.
- Monitor produce quality, freshness, and appearance throughout the day.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and temperature control procedures are followed.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in achieving department sales, labor, shrink, and profitability goals.
- Support promotional, seasonal, and merchandising programs.
- Monitor department performance metrics and recommend improvement opportunities.
- Help control expenses through effective inventory and labor management.
