Position Summary: The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating activities in support of the Product Manager they are assigned to work with. They will investigate new product ideas in terms of market potential and development and serve as a technical advisor on all matters of designated products. The Assistant Product Manager is the back up to the Product Manager in answering questions from Sales and Operations. This role requires 1-3 years in the Firearms industry in Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a similar role. This role works closely with Sales, Research & Development, Operations, suppliers, distributors, and customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research to understand customers' needs, turning those needs into sound business plans.
  • Assist Product Manager with the product requirement documents for product, packaging, accessories, and manuals.
  • Create SKUs and BOMs as needed.
  • Support team for the full-spectrum creation of NPI throughout all stages. Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management throughout product development.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and help develop NPI and sustainment marketing campaigns.
  • Manage product holds as required by Quality, Engineering, Legal, Product Management, etc.
  • Create sell sheets for NPI.
  • Coordinate, support, and educate adjacent business units (Sales, Sales Operations, Customer Service, Repair Depot, Marketing, SEC, etc.) on upcoming NPI.
  • Assist Product Manager with the product portfolio for website and price list production.
  • Directly coordinate with 3rd party vendors to support both products and accessories.
  • Support Product Manager with inventory management by reviewing and execution of old or slow-moving inventory.
  • Act as Product Manager in the actual Product Manger's absence.
  • Train, mentor, and develop Operations Support Specialists to ensure optimized productivity, effectiveness, efficiency, and quality.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
  • Travel to events and tradeshows as required.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Associates degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred; or equivalent years of experience. 1-3 years in the Firearms industry in Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, or similar role.
  • Moderate knowledge of industry product portfolio.
  • Must have good business acumen, market research and analysis experience, basic financial literacy, and project tracking experience.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, collaboration, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Product Management certificate preferred.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) required, Monday.com, Agile, Oracle, and 1+ years of previous experience with Product Lifecycle Management system preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
