Assistant Professor & Course Director in Graphic Design

Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Professor to join our School of Design and Media in Graphic Design. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading teaching, curriculum development, and research activities within the Graphic Design program. As part of our dedicated faculty team, you will contribute to enhancing the student learning experience, fostering critical thinking, and promoting innovative pedagogic approaches.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face learning experiences in Graphic Design.
  • Engage in innovative pedagogic approaches, utilizing a wide range of learning resources and best practices.
  • Ensure teaching is informed by contemporary research and/or practice, promoting debate, critical discourse, and creative thinking.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students, enhancing their employability and professional development.
  • Undertake research activities, contributing to University and external research communities, and disseminating research outputs.
  • Collaborate with external partners and professional bodies/agencies in the UK and overseas.
  • Contribute to the promotion and external profile of the University, adopting a customer/client-focused approach where appropriate.
  • Work effectively as a team member, chairing committees, and mentoring other staff members.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities to support teaching, research, and student welfare.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in an appropriate subject Or (if from Professional practice background) a good Honours Degree (and/or Master’s degree) and appropriate professional qualifications and/or membership and/or equivalent professional qualifications that might be considered as equivalent to a Ph.D.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching and curriculum development, preferably at the university level.
  • Proven track record of research and scholarship, with publications and contributions to academic communities.
