Assistant Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Southeastern Louisiana University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in computational/applied mathematics or applied statistics beginning August 2027. Southeastern Louisiana University is a regional university with a student enrollment of 15,000 in Hammond, a community of 20,000 with a low cost of living. Hammond is a safe, close-knit, family-friendly community that lies about 50 miles northwest of New Orleans and 40 miles east of Baton Rouge, providing residents with convenient access to international airports, professional sports, fine dining, and cultural activities, as well as rural and wilderness areas. The Department of Mathematics resides in the College of Science and Technology, which also includes the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Physics, Computer Science, and Industrial and Engineering Technology. The College offers undergraduate degrees and an interdisciplinary master’s degree in Integrated Science and Technology. Primary strengths of the College of Science and Technology include first-class experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, strong connections with industrial partners, and close student-faculty relationships.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Mathematics, preferably in the area of Computational/Applied Mathematics or Applied Statistics from an accredited university by hire date
Evidence of effective teaching at the college or university level and research potential

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to teach introductory programming courses in Python or R
