We specialize in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure projects across North America, including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Managers in the planning, execution and closeout of Field Services projects, helping ensure they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements. This position serves as a key liaison between Operations supervisors, Project Controls, Finance, Accounting and Sales, providing timely project information, reporting and documentation so that loops are closed from planning to closeout. The Assistant Project Manager is expected to contribute to continuous improvement and to grow into broader project management responsibilities.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented and hands-on, with a solid understanding of electrical field work and a strong drive to learn.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project Planning & Support: Support the project life cycle from kickoff to closeout, working alongside Operations.
- Budget & Cost Support: Gather budget, hours and cost information with Project Controls and Finance, support project cost forecasting, and flag deviations to the Project Manager early.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collect project information from Operations and internal teams, and prepare regular project reports and updates.
- Risk & Issue Management: Maintain project logs (changes, risks, issues and actions), and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Materials, Rentals & Closeout: Track project materials and rentals, and support project closeout.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Support compliance with safety, quality and contractual requirements, and maintain accurate project records across Saber systems.
- Continuous Improvement: Follow and help improve project management procedures and templates, and capture lessons learned for Estimating and Sales.
- Project Responsibility: As assigned and approved by management, manage smaller projects under Project Manager supervision.
- Other Duties: Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination, project engineering, project management, or field/technical lead roles in electrical power, EPC, testing and commissioning, or field-service environments.
- Understanding of how electrical field work is planned, staffed and executed.
- Working knowledge of CRM and ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
Preferred
- Electrification field service, NETA testing and commissioning, or medium- and high-voltage experience.
- Experience with project financials and margin.
- Project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- CAPM or PMP certification.

- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to collect and validate information from several sources and escalate issues early
- Willingness to learn project controls, forecasting and change management
WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL
- Office-based role with regular site visits.
- Occasional regional travel required.
- Must be comfortable working in industrial and construction settings.
