Assistant Purchasing Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Purchasing Manager in ensuring smooth, efficient, and effective purchasing operations with a high level of responsibility, integrity, and commitment.
- Plan, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the purchasing activities of team members to ensure departmental objectives are achieved.
- Oversee and monitor all procurement activities to ensure timely and uninterrupted supply of materials and services required for safe and efficient production operations.
- Establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure the best value in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and service.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal departments and stakeholders to effectively resolve purchasing matters and support operational requirements.
- Identify training needs and implement learning and development programs to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competency of subordinates.
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching and guidance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and ethical procurement practices.
- To maintain and upkeep the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
- Keep abreast of current affairs and the market situation that is relevant to his/her function.
- Act as an advisor for departments on all matters relating to the Procurement function:
- Recommend/source for suitably qualified and legitimate vendors
- Advise on delivery, sustainability requirements, and procurement processes
- Recommend process improvement strategies
- Perform any other duties that maybe assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree holder with a minimum of two years of related experience and/or training in the Hospitality/Engineering industry.
- Familiarity with SAP and Ariba would be advantageous
- Proficient in administrative and contracting works
- Possess good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to manage both internal and external stakeholders.
