Assistant Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions (FI) – Corporate Banking
About the Role
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Assistant Relationship Manager to support the Financial Institutions (FI) team in managing relationships with banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs).
This role provides excellent exposure to Financial Institutions coverage, correspondent banking, KYC, credit analysis, counterparty management and cross-border banking, making it an ideal opportunity for candidates looking to develop a career within the Financial Institutions business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Relationship Managers in managing relationships with banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs).
- Perform end-to-end KYC onboarding and due diligence for new FI and NBFI clients.
- Support periodic KYC reviews, transaction monitoring and compliance-related enquiries for existing counterparties.
- Conduct adverse news screening and assess AML and financial crime risks associated with FI clients.
- Perform credit analysis on selected financial institution counterparties and prepare industry and market analysis.
- Create and maintain counterparty records and onboarding information within internal banking systems.
- Manage the Bank’s own KYC package and coordinate responses to FI due diligence questionnaires received from correspondent banks and counterparties.
- Assist in the negotiation and documentation of Vostro and Nostro account agreements with correspondent banking partners (training will be provided).
- Support business development activities, client meetings, industry events and departmental initiatives.
- Prepare reports, presentations and management information as required.
- Perform other duties assigned by department management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Financial Institutions, Commercial Banking, Trade Finance or other banking-related roles.
- Knowledge of KYC, AML, customer due diligence and regulatory requirements within the banking industry.
- Exposure to Financial Institutions, correspondent banking, treasury operations or credit analysis would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail.
- Good organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- A proactive team player with strong learning agility and interest in Financial Institutions business.
