Assistant Restaurant Manager
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused
Assistant Restaurant Manager
to support the daily operations of our restaurant. The successful candidate will assist the Restaurant Manager in leading the team, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food and beverage quality, and overseeing bar operations. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on operational experience, and the flexibility to perform bartender duties when required.
Key Responsibilities
Restaurant Operations
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant.
- Ensure smooth and efficient service during operating hours.
- Supervise, motivate and train service staff to maintain high performance standards.
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
- Monitor cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards in accordance with company policies and government regulations.
- Ensure compliance with all SFA, NEA and workplace safety requirements.
- Prepare staff duty rosters and manage manpower allocation.
- Conduct opening and closing procedures of the restaurant.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing of food, beverages and operating supplies.
- Perform stock takes and minimise wastage.
- Assist in achieving sales targets and controlling operating costs.
- Prepare daily sales reports and operational reports.
Bartender Duties
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to company recipes and standards.
- Recommend beverages and cocktails to customers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of wines, spirits, beers and other beverages.
- Monitor beverage inventory and replenish stock when necessary.
- Check customers' age where required and ensure responsible service of alcohol.
- Maintain bar equipment and ensure all tools are in good working condition.
Customer Service
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Build positive relationships with customers and encourage repeat business.
- Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure guests enjoy a pleasant dining experience.
Team Leadership
- Train new employees on restaurant and bar operations.
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a positive working environment.
- Lead by example and assist the team during busy periods.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in restaurant or hospitality operations.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
- Bartending experience and knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits and beverages.
- Good knowledge of restaurant operations and customer service.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Good communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage).
- Able to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Responsible, organised and able to multitask.
- Basic computer knowledge (POS system, Microsoft Office, inventory management).
- Food Hygiene Certificate is an advantage.
- Class 1 or Class 2 Liquor Licence certification is an advantage (if applicable).
