ASSISTANT RESTAURANT MANAGER
ABOUT TANOKE
Located within a conserved heritage shophouse on Purvis Street, TANOKE is a modern Japanese restaurant and sake bar offering contemporary Japanese cuisine, thoughtfully curated sake and warm hospitality.
With expansion plans in the pipeline, we are looking to grow our team. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to support the management of daily operations, lead the service team and consistently deliver excellent guest experiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in overseeing daily front-of-house operations
• Lead the service team and ensure consistent service standards
• Assist with staff scheduling, deployment and roster planning
• Train, guide and motivate team members
• Manage reservations, table arrangements and guest requests
• Coordinate private events, group reservations and special occasions
• Handle guest feedback and service recovery professionally
• Monitor inventory, stock levels and ordering
• Oversee opening, closing and cash-handling procedures
• Prepare operational reports, spreadsheets and administrative documents
• Assist with updating menus and event materials using Canva
• Maintain restaurant cleanliness, safety and regulatory compliance
• Work closely with the kitchen and management teams
• Identify operational issues, take ownership and recommend practical improvements
REQUIREMENTS
• At least 2 years of relevant restaurant operations and supervisory experience
• Proficient in spoken and written English, as the role requires communication with guests, team members and corporate clients
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a service team
• Proactive and able to resolve issues without requiring constant instruction
• Positive mindset, professional attitude and strong sense of responsibility
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Able to remain composed during busy service periods
• Comfortable working split shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays
• Able to support extended working hours during peak periods and private events
• Able to commit to a minimum 44-hour work week
• Immediate availability is preferred
