Assistant Rig Manager

Summary

Assist the Rig Manager with the delivery of safe, efficient and profitable operations for the Operating Unit. Support the Rig Manager to monitor the operational and safety performance for the rig, by providing analysis, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement / mitigating issues and presenting results and recommendations. The Assistant Rig Manager is responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of all problem events including accidents/incidents and operational/technical downtime.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of customer relationships, managing start-ups, operational execution status and demobilizations.
  • Responsible for ensuring all rig operations are conducted in accordance with national and international acts and regulations, Seadrill's policies, directives and procedures, labor union agreements and financial regulations (Sox).
  • Assist in the management of rig contract, ensuring that the unit fulfils the requirements and provide guidance on potential contract challenges / opportunities.
  • Leverage data to provide insights and recommendations for the Rig Manager and to assess the effectiveness and performance of the rig operations.
  • Contribute to the development of leadership capabilities among senior rig personnel and rig team.
  • Supporting the Rig Manager to ensure training, development plans, and appraisals of all rig personnel is in accordance with Seadrill's directives.
  • Collaborate with the offshore leadership team to ensure effective communication between onshore and offshore teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical concepts and information clearly and meaningfully
  • Ability to effectively analyze data to provide valuable performance insights
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a changing environment and comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Dynamic problem solver with ability to formulate creative solutions
  • Fluent in English both written and verbally
  • Has the ability to work internationally

Desired

  • Experience working offshore

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Valid IWCF Level 4 certification.
  • Management of Major Emergencies (preferred).
