Assistant Supply Chain Manager
About the Role
The Assistant Supply Chain Manager is responsible for supporting and optimizing end-to-end supply chain operations, including purchasing, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and distribution. This role ensures product availability, inventory accuracy, efficient warehouse operations, and timely procurement of goods while supporting the organization's operational and business objectives.
This role is focused on ensuring the smooth operation of supply chain processes and achieving the organization's objectives through effective management of purchasing, inventory, and logistics.
Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
- Assist in planning and coordinating purchasing activities to ensure timely procurement of materials and products.
- Monitor purchase orders, supplier deliveries, and lead times.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure product availability and on-time deliveries.
- Support supplier evaluation, negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Work closely with Procurement and Finance teams to optimize purchasing costs and inventory investment.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock availability.
- Conduct inventory analysis, stock forecasting, and replenishment planning.
- Review inventory aging, slow-moving, and obsolete stocks and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and reconciliation activities.
- Develop and implement inventory control measures to improve stock accuracy.
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee warehouse operations to ensure efficient receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch processes.
- Monitor warehouse productivity and compliance with operational standards.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and security of products.
- Coordinate with warehouse teams to optimize space utilization and inventory flow.
- Implement process improvements to improve warehouse efficiency and accuracy.
Logistics & Distribution
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Monitor transportation and logistics performance.
- Work closely with warehouse, sales, and operations teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce operational costs.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare inventory, purchasing, warehouse, and supply chain performance reports.
- Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
- Support ERP system utilization and process automation initiatives.
- Recommend strategies to improve overall supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Inventory Management, and Warehouse Operations.
- Strong background in purchasing, inventory planning and control, warehouse management, and logistics operations.
- Preferably with experience in the building materials, construction, home improvement, furniture, architectural products, sanitary ware, tiles, kitchen systems, lighting, or related industries.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, inventory forecasting, and warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices and inventory control processes.
- Experience using ERP systems (Odoo experience is an advantage).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
