ASSISTANT / TECHNICAL ENGINEER
Summary
Assists in developing, testing, and improving chemical-based products like emulsions and coatings, while managing lab operations and supporting commercial and operations teams in Singapore.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Modification and improvement of existing products
- Development of new products
- Performing laboratory testing and characterization of products
- Support commercial team in technical analysis of customer specification and drive internal discussion specification review process.
- Support Operations and Quality teams in resolving technical problem and cost-down projects
- Liaise with suppliers to source for new raw materials and additives
- Lab management – keeping lab clean and safe, maintenance of lab equipment, ability to handle heavy loads, including disposal of chemical waste
- Customer interactions may be required at times
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct product testing, quality checks, and support trial evaluations; accurately record and report results.
- Technical Support: Assist in troubleshooting, process improvements, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
- Product Development: Support R&D activities including sample preparation, lab-scale testing, and new product trials.
- Compliance & Maintenance: Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety standards, and proper maintenance of lab equipment and documentation.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Candidate must possess at least Specialist Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or equivalent, majoring chemical, chemistry, materials (particularly polymer) or related.
- Experience (including internship) in formulation and/or coating of emulsions, hotmelts and UV curable are highly welcomed.
- 0-3 years of working experience.
