Job Summary

Reporting to Team Head of Business Compliance and Control of Wholesale Banking Group. The job holder will assist the Team Head of Business Compliance & Operation Management Team within Wholesale Banking Group for process re-engineering project. The role will also act as Operational Risk Partner to roll out ORM’s initiatives and projects.

The job holder is required to collaborate work closely with RMs and ORM to ensure strict adherence to bank standard and operational procedure. This position will also ensure an effective compliance & control infrastructure be maintained and Business is conducted in safe and controlled environment and in compliance with regulatory requirement.

What you will be doing:

  • Partner with the WBG Operational Risk Partner to embed a strong risk awareness culture and support on risk management and control programme (e.g., RCSA Employee Conduct Triggers framework)

  • Develop, review, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to meet regulatory and internal requirements

  • Raise awareness of business controls, governance, and supervision across WBG

  • Identify control gaps and lead initiatives to enhance the overall control environment, minimizing operational risk and fraud incidents

  • Formulate and implement control measures, ensuring consistent execution across the business

  • Oversee timely escalation, reporting, and remediation of operational risk events and non-compliance issues.

  • Support data privacy and protection efforts, including Personal Data Inventory management and Data Protection Impact Assessments

  • Partner with the WBG Critical Business Service Owner to contribute to implementation of operational resilience for critical business services concerning WBG, and coordinate critical business service mapping and scenario testing to ensure robust business continuity and recovery capabilities in event of CBS disruption.

  • Lead communication efforts to WBG staff regarding the latest strategic directions, updates, and achievements, while reinforcing the Bank’s PVA and LIFRR values (e.g., through the publication of the WBG Newsletter)

  • Coordinate and assist to drive change management activities or process re-engineering projects

  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to specified BAU operational risk deadlines

  • Responsible for raising awareness of business controls, governance, and supervision

  • Work with Business and ORM to identify, analyze, assess operational risk associated with the process and controls relevant to our business

  • Assist the divisions in highlighting their key operational risk and management of risk levels against designated risk tolerance limit

  • Act as Operational Risk Partner to roll out and adopt ORM’s initiatives and projects, implement operational risk management systems and tools, such as Operational Risk Indicators, Email Content Monitoring and Self-Assessment.

  • Assist to drive internal and external audit examination and help to monitor the process on adopting the remediation measures as agreed

  • Formulate internal control measures and ensure they are properly followed

  • Rationalize processes and procedures for better customer or staff experience, increase in productivity and / or elimination of redundant processes or procedures

  • Support additional initiatives and ad-hoc assignments related to Core Banking System as required

  • Actively contribute to the rollout of the core banking system and drive the execution of related operational process changes.

  • To participant in any ad-hoc projects to be assigned

What we are looking for:

  • University degree in business related disciplines with minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Compliance, Operational Risk, Business Management, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of corporate banking products and services, as well as regulatory requirements

  • Proficient in MS Office applications

  • Professional presentation and report writing skills

  • Well versed with banking and regulatory requirements (e.g. Code of Banking Practice)

  • Independent and with strong compliance sense

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated integrity, independence, and a strong compliance mindset

  • ECF - Operational Risk Management (ORM) - Professional - Role 1 is preferable
