Assistant Vice President, Finance Operations & IFRS
This role is responsible for the smooth and efficient management of finance operations, treasury, accounts payable, cost recovery, and tax, while providing IFRS technical advice and support to business units across the region. The role safeguards financial integrity, strengthens governance and controls, supports accurate and timely reporting, and drives finance transformation initiatives including financial reporting system enhancements, digital workflow automation and e-invoicing implementation.

Responsibilities
IFRS Finance Technical Lead
Provide IFRS technical advice and guidance to business units across the region, including supporting the resolution of technical accounting issues in the preparation of financial statements, and responding to Head Office requests and queries.
Support business units on audit-related matters
Provide training or technical knowledge sharing to the Finance team and business units, where required.
Support the implementation of the IFRS reporting system to strengthen reporting capability and process effectiveness.
Finance Operations
Oversee financial close and finance operations for MSIG entities, including the monthly and year-end closing process for full sets of accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, regulatory obligations, internal policies and audit requirements.
Review journals, lease accounting, fixed assets, balance sheet schedules and related closing deliverables to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, and liaison with auditors.
Drive process automation, simplification, and digital workflow implementation to improve scalability, operational effectiveness and business continuity.
Accounts Payable and Cost Recovery
Review invoices and staff claims, and strengthen Accounts Payable controls, governance and processing discipline.
Oversee cash flow management, including fixed deposits, collections and payments, delegated authorities and related controls.
Manage treasury matters including banking relationships, bank signatories and authority matrix updates.
Manage Accounts Payable, Head Office and business unit cost recovery processes, including intercompany allocation frameworks, to enhance transparency, accuracy and control.
Tax & Regulatory
Ensure compliance with GST and withholding tax requirements, and support corporate tax, transfer pricing and BEPS-related initiatives.
Lead GST InvoiceNow transformation activities, including system integration, process redesign, rollout and change management.
Requirements
Professional qualification in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline.
At least eight years of experience in the finance functions of multinational insurance companies or regional offices, with exposure to regional or multi-entity finance operations.
Experience managing full sets of insurance accounts and regulatory reporting
Strong knowledge of IFRS and technical accounting matters, with the ability to provide practical guidance to business stakeholders.
Strong understanding of financial governance, internal controls, audit requirements, tax compliance, GST and withholding tax matters.
Experience with accounting software such as Oracle Financials, and business intelligence or reporting tools such as Jedox.
Experience leading or supporting finance transformation, digitalisation, process automation, e-invoicing or workflow improvement initiatives.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business unit finance heads, department heads, auditors, tax advisors and regulators.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and planning skills, with the ability to manage priorities, assess risks and drive practical solutions.
High standards of ethics, compliance and confidentiality, with sound judgement in handling sensitive financial and business information.
Ability to lead, guide and develop team members while working collaboratively across functions and business units.
