Objective: The Assistant Vice President of IT serves as an operational partner to the CIO, helping lead the organization’s technology vision, execution, and governance. This role blends leadership with hands-on operational management, delivery oversight, and internal business stakeholder engagement to ensure IT services align with business priorities, drive innovation, and maintain operational excellence.


The AVP of IT plays a critical role in translating enterprise strategy into executable technology initiatives, overseeing key IT functions, and ensuring high-performing, secure, and scalable systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Partner with the CIO to define and execute the enterprise IT strategy and roadmap
  • Align IT initiatives with business goals, growth strategies, and digital transformation efforts

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations including infrastructure, applications, service delivery, and support
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of systems
  • Drive IT service management (ITSM) maturity and continuous improvement

Program & Portfolio Management:

  • Lead enterprise IT portfolio management, prioritization, and governance
  • Oversee delivery of major programs and projects (budget, scope, timeline)
  • Establish KPIs and dashboards to measure performance and outcomes

Cybersecurity & Risk Management:

  • Oversight of cyber security remediation projects
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
  • Lead risk management and business continuity planning

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with executives and business units to understand needs and deliver solutions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to operational and business leaders
  • Communicate IT strategy, progress, and value to stakeholders

People Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor IT directors, managers, and staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development

Vendor & Financial Management:

  • Manage IT budgets, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and performance
  • Drive value from strategic technology partnerships
