Assistant Warehouse Manager
Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Warehouse Manager/ Senior Warehouse Supervisor supports in overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient inventory management, timely order fulfillment, and maintaining safety and quality standards. This role involves supervising staff, coordinating logistics, and improving operational processes.
Responsibilities
A. Warehouse Management
- Manage and oversee the overall warehouse operations and activities.
- Supervise and provide direction to the Warehouse Supervisor and warehouse team.
- Establish proper warehouse procedures, work processes and controls.
- Review current warehouse practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
B. Inventory & Material Control
- Take overall responsibility for the accuracy and control of warehouse inventory.
- Establish proper procedures for receiving, storing, issuing, transferring and returning materials.
- Review stock discrepancies and investigate significant variances.
- Implement controls to minimize material loss, wastage, damage and unauthorised usage.
C. Project & Site Coordination
- Ensure materials and equipment are available and delivered to project sites according to project schedules.
- Prioritize urgent and critical project requirements.
- Coordinate the movement and return of tools and equipment between warehouse and project sites.
E. Logistics & Delivery Management
- Oversee warehouse delivery and collection arrangements.
- Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, drivers and project sites.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to the correct project locations.
- Review delivery schedules and resolve delays or logistical issues.
- Monitor transportation and warehouse-related costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
F. Warehouse Safety & Compliance
- Ensure the warehouse operates in accordance with company safety procedures and applicable requirements.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of construction materials, tools, equipment and hazardous materials where applicable.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and safe access within the warehouse.
- Conduct or arrange regular warehouse inspections.
G. Reporting & Administration
- Review and approve warehouse records and reports prepared by the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Prepare regular management reports on inventory, material movement, stock variances and warehouse performance.
- Monitor warehouse operating costs.
- Maintain proper documentation for goods received, goods issued, transfers, returns and deliveries.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for company materials and assets.
H. Process Improvement & Cost Control
- Review warehouse processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop practical systems to improve inventory accuracy and material traceability.
- Improve warehouse space utilization and workflow.
- Reduce material wastage, loss, damage and unnecessary purchases.
- Recommend cost-saving measures to Management.
- Assist Management in developing warehouse policies, procedures and controls.
Pre-requisities:
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehouse Management, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant warehouse, logistics or inventory management experience.
- Experience in the construction industry is an advantage.
- Experience managing construction materials, tools, equipment and project site deliveries.
- Previous experience supervising or managing warehouse personnel.
