Summary

Assesses and implements assistive technology tools for students with disabilities at Aspire campuses, collaborating with educators and families to enhance independence and learning.

  • Job title: Assistive Technology Specialist

The Assistive Technology (AT) Specialist provides comprehensive assessment, implementation, and training services to support students with disabilities across our Aspire campuses. This individual works collaboratively with special educators, staff, and families to evaluate students' AT needs, recommend appropriate tools and devices, and ensure effective integration of technology into each student's educational program. The AT Specialist plays a critical role in increasing access, independence, and academic engagement for students with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and communication needs.

Qualifications:

  • Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with disabilities in a school or clinical setting.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology tools and their application for students with diverse disabilities.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for multi-campus travel.
  • Preferred
    • Master's degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Assistive Technology, or a related field.
    • Assistive Technology Graduate Certificate, or active pursuit of certification.
    • Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems.
    • Familiarity with Connecticut state special education regulations and IEP processes.
    • Experience in a private special education or therapeutic day school setting.

  • Schedule: Mon-Fri 7a-3p

Pay: $75,000-$95,000, based on education and experience
