What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be ensuring that analytics drive continuous business improvements, bringing more profitable growth and an even better customer experience. You’ll define the analytics strategy and champion that strategy across the business in order to build consensus for data-driven decision making. As the leader of our data science and platform engineering initiatives, your mission will be to shift our commercial model from reactive to proactive by deploying real-time predictive platforms, building autonomous AI discovery tools, and modernizing data architectures for enterprise cloud and CRM migrations. You’ll also own the data science engineering team, planning and leading all aspects of the work, and crafting an engaging environment where team members can thrive through AI-assisted engineering workflows and continuous upskilling. Your end goal is to deliver predictive intelligence and machine learning pipelines that will go straight to the bottom line by helping us serve our customers.

  • Leading a strong internal data analytics team to support the business by coaching, mentoring, and assessing performance while embedding generative AI capabilities (such as Claude Code) into daily engineering workflows to modernize their toolsets.

  • Partnering with others to understand business challenges and translating rep and analyst pain points into automated sales plays, targeted campaigns, and real-time personalized recommendations.

  • Defining and driving the analytics strategy and modeling approaches by turning raw data into insight and insight into action, which includes building real-time Next Best Action (NBX) recommendation scoring pipelines operating across multiple hierarchy grains.

  • Building business cases and translating findings into practical business implications by ensuring the recommendation engine generates high-priority sales plays, sales leads, and personalized actions at the business, account, line, ECPD, NASP, and BUID levels.

  • Driving the adoption of analytics in decision making by managing critical 3rd-party data vendor integrations and automating refresh cycles.

What we’re looking for...

You stay at the forefront of data mining, machine learning, and AI-assisted engineering. You possess both the strategic vision to guide our transition to an AI-first, predictive organization and the technical depth to execute that vision. You translate complex datasets into clear, actionable business strategies. As a credible subject matter expert, you bridge the gap between technical complexity and stakeholder understanding. Above all, you are an inspiring leader who models care, candor, and engineering excellence to cultivate high-performing teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Experience with quantitative modeling, statistics, or data mining.

  • Experience in 3rd party B2B data such as firmographics, contact details, technographics, and buyer intent signals.

  • Experience leading, coaching, managing, and developing technical teams of data scientists, machine learning, or software engineers.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.

  • Coding experience with Python, FastAPI, React, SQL, and RESTful APIs.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP BigQuery), multi-tenant routing architectures, and building enterprise Data Catalogs.

  • Hands-on experience building real-time recommendation engines (Next Best Action / NBX), multi-dimension feature vectors, and anomaly detection models (e.g., Isolation Forest, Autoencoder, CUSUM, DBSCAN).

  • Experience utilizing GenAI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate software delivery and development velocity.

  • Demonstrated experience in cloud infrastructure cost governance, including JSON caching, cache-first scoring, and prompt batching..

  • Demonstrated communication, cross-functional leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to resolve executive escalations.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
