Job Description

In this role, you will develop and execute strategies for the global logistics category to lower total cost of ownership and increase overall value and identify business demand requirements and deliver the Procurement value proposition across a broad portfolio of Procurement categories and programs supporting Global Logistics.

As a Assoc Director, Procurement - Transportation and Logistics, at Gilead you will ...

Responsibilities:

  • Consult with cross functional teams to lead transportation sourcing events and competitive bidding processes.

  • Develop category strategies to deliver value by achieving cost savings and improving quality and service levels by identifying opportunity areas such as standardization and supplier consolidation.

  • Collaborate and engage across the Global Logistics functions/regions to identify requirements and projected demand in alignment with business priorities and engage in strategic planning, target setting and action planning to deliver meaningful business impact.

  • Partner with internal senior leadership to define clear performance metrics and supplier objectives which meet Gilead's business needs; including quality, reliability, innovation and cost.

  • Collaborate with Supplier Risk, Inclusion, and Sustainability functions to create a standard and repeatable process to integrate business diversity and responsible procurement into an overall value proposition.

  • Develop and expand carrier relationships and capabilities based on segmentation of supply base to improve capacity and service levels.

  • Develop tender roadmap and multi-year cost improvement pipeline by combining all spend information into yearly plans and long-term forecasts for costs, savings targets, and planned projects

  • Classify suppliers and manage supplier relationships according to defined supplier relationship management standards to drive continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Coordinate with Planning and Logistics to right size network storage utilization and freight network optimization initiatives.

  • Ensure early Procurement engagement in the budgeting process to deliver against the financial goals and priorities.

  • Drive year-over-year improvement in key category metrics including spend-under-contract, spend-under-strategy and spend-under-management.

  • Lead sourcing strategies, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management to achieve cost savings and service improvements

  • Monitor and report on procurement and logistics KPIs, ensuring delivery of cost of ownership targets and service level agreements.

  • Focused on continuous improvement and supplier development based on periodic reviews of freight spend, market trends and supplier performance data.

  • Leverage procurement e-tools, ERP systems, and analytics to support decision-making and process automation.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Eight Years' Experience

OR

PhD and Two Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years professional work experience in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related field and experience in the areas of DEI, procurement and supplier management, or corporate strategy.

  • Proven track record in logistics procurement, category management, or supply chain leadership; experience with transportation, warehousing, and related categories.

  • Strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, negotiation, risk management, sustainability/ESG awareness, technology proficiency, and strong communication.

  • Highly analytical and comfortable using data to identify trends and opportunities.

  • Proven track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards along with an in-depth knowledge of industry practices required.

  • A skilled negotiator who balances commercial objectives with supplier relationships.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis to drive decision making.

The salary range for this position is: $182,070.00 - $235,620.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
