Job Summary

The Emergency Department (ED) Registration Associate plays a key role in supporting patient access and care delivery in the ED. This position is responsible for greeting and registering patients upon arrival, identifying the nature of their visit, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information, and advising patients on next steps in the care process. The ED Associate ensures accurate and timely completion of patient records in compliance with Joint Commission standards, Department of Health (DOH) regulations, and hospital policies. Duties include answering and directing internal and external calls, paging on-call providers and hospital staff, and responding to emergency communication needs such as code calls and critical alerts. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced and high-stress environment. Regular interaction with patients, clinical teams, external agencies, and payers is required.


Qualifications

  • High School High School diploma or equivalent Required
  • 1-3 years At least one year of medical office experience with frequent customer interaction required.
    Basic computer skills required. Required
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English required.
  • Ability to also communicate in Spanish a plus.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Previous patient registration or patient accounting experience preferred.
  • Must complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training on a bi-annual basis.
