Summary

Lead a national traffic-safety data center, oversee crash-data collection and AI-driven analysis, and set agency-wide safety standards and policies.

This position serves as the Associate Administrator (AA) for the National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) within the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

As the Associate Administrator (AA), you will: Plan, direct, and manage NCSA, a national program of scientific research to identify, investigate, collect, and disseminate analytical information relating to crashes, drivers, vehicles, and environmental factors pertinent to the development, implementation, and evaluation of traffic and motor vehicle safety programs and standards. Manage and continuously improve the acquisition, analysis, publication, and communication of vehicle crash data for use by the public, and other stakeholders within the vehicle industry and traffic safety community. Oversee the development and delivery of programs related to the scientific investigation of highway crashes and injuries, and the identification and acquisition of information related thereto; the mathematical and statistical analysis of crash -related information; the information systems necessary for the automated and manual control and manipulation of data pertinent to crashes, management of the National Driver Register, coordination and conduct of State traffic records assessments, and coordination of traffic records requirements within NHTSA and with other Federal and State agencies and private sector organizations. Represent and speak authoritatively for NHTSA in negotiations with high-level officials of Federal, State and private agencies. Participate continuously with the Office of the Administrator and other senior Agency officials in the establishment of Agency goals, objectives, programs, and policies. Lead the team to use advanced machine learning and other forms of artificial intelligence to streamline data collection, processing and analysis and to provide deeper analysis on complex datasets. Oversee the evaluation of NHTSA's existing and proposed Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for the purpose of assessing their benefits and costs.
