Associate Attorney - Condo Dept (0-2 years exp)

Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit is growing! A well-established and leading law firm specializing in the representation of homeowner, condominium, and community associations is seeking an Associate Attorney with 0-2 years of experience. The position may be based out of either our Lincolnshire or Chicago, IL office; however, all training will be conducted at the Lincolnshire office. Our associates have immediate and direct client contact, work on substantive matters, and contribute to the exceptional service our clients have come to expect. Qualified candidates must be licensed in Illinois and have strong writing and analytical skills. Knowledge of and experience with the Illinois Condominium Property Act/Common Interest Association Act is a plus.


The starting salary for this exempt position is $100,000, contingent upon level of experience. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and it follows a 35-hour workweek. The position requires a minimum of 60-90 days of in-office training. After successfully completing this period, the role will transition to a hybrid schedule. The schedule will be determined by the manager once training is completed. The requirement will be discussed more during the interview process.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Provide legal representation and counsel to homeowner, condominium, and community associations.

· Advise Boards of Directors on corporate governance, covenant enforcement, contract matters, and other association-related legal issues.

· Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable statutes, regulations, and governing documents, including Declarations, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, Rules and Regulations, and other association documents.

· Conduct legal research and document review and apply findings to client matters.

· Draft, review, finalize, and record legal documents and correspondence related to association matters.

· Prepare opinion letters, violation notices, demand letters, and other legal correspondence.

· Attend client Board meetings and provide legal guidance and recommendations as needed.

· Utilize applicable platforms to facilitate association-related transactions and documentation.

· Manage multiple matters simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and provide timely follow-up to Partners, Boards of Directors, and clients.

· Participate in required and relevant Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs and training.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.
