As a Design Manager at WSP, you will lead and manage design projects within the Water sector. Working closely with the Project Director and Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing engineering design activities and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and UK regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for BIM and digital delivery across multiple UK Water projects and frameworks.
  • Develop and implement BIM strategies aligned with business, client, and project objectives.
  • Support business growth through digital solutions, innovation, and BIM capability enhancement.
  • Contribute to regional and global digital transformation initiatives.
  • Support business planning, forecasting, resource planning, and capability development activities.
  • Promote a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the development of BIM delivery roadmaps and long-term digital strategies.

Project & Portfolio Oversight

  • Provide oversight and governance for BIM delivery across a portfolio of projects.
  • Ensure project teams consistently meet quality, program, budget, and client requirements.
  • Monitor project performance, resource utilization, and delivery KPIs.
  • Support BIM Managers and project teams in resolving complex technical and delivery challenges.
  • Review project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), information management processes, and BIM deliverables.
  • Ensure BIM deliverables align with ISO 19650 requirements, client standards, and WSP procedures.
  • Identify delivery risks and implement mitigation plans.

BIM Governance & Technical Excellence

  • Establish and maintain BIM governance frameworks, standards, procedures, and quality management systems.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of BIM standards, templates, libraries, and workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • ISO 19650
  • Client BIM standards
  • UK Water standards
  • Information management requirements
  • WSP BIM procedures
  • Lead technical audits and quality reviews.
  • Champion best practices in information management and digital delivery.
  • Drive consistency across project teams and regions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree/Diploma/BE in Engineering.

Experience

  • Typically 15+ years of experience in BIM, CAD, and digital project delivery.
  • Minimum 7+ years in BIM leadership or management positions.
  • Extensive experience delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure and UK Water projects.
  • Proven experience managing large BIM teams and multiple project portfolios.
  • Demonstrated success in developing BIM standards, governance frameworks, and digital strategies.
  • Experience working directly with clients, project directors, and senior leadership teams.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery models, information management, and digital engineering workflows.
